1. How Long has Heart to Heart Project in
existence?
The project has been in Uganda for four years.
Prior to that, Archbishop Bakyenga sponsored the Orphans Welfare
Project for approximately 16-18 years.
2. What is the objective of the project?
The objective is to educate both male and
female so they can support their families.
3. Who exactly are you helping?
We are helping the young people; most are poor and cannot
pay for their education and one or both of their parents are
deceased due to the AIDS virus.
4. How much does it cost for this education?
The cost is approximately $30 per month or $350
per year.
5. What kind of educational programs are
young people involved in?
The young women are educated in fields such as nursing, teaching,
secretarial in the vocational field and college level education.
The young men are educated in auto mechanics in the vocational
field and accounting and medicine in the University degree programs.
6. Do you have any success stories?
We have several success stories! We have several graduates of
the program who are now working in the fields of medicine, office
work, tailoring and government and are now able to provide for
themselves and their families. Several have gotten married and
are living lives of renewed hope for their families. Please visit

7. How do I get a pen pal?
You can email us and we will assign a pen pal to you based on
the gender of the person you prefer. All letters are filtered
through the Archdiocese of Mbarara for the safety of your sponsored
child and your privacy.
